서울역과 남산 사이, 비탈진 골목에
애매하게 자리한 작은 빌딩.
등기부상으로는 1층이지만,
실제로는 지하 1층처럼 가라앉아 있는 공간이었다.
방사형으로 얽힌 벽, 용도를 알 수 없는 방들, 복잡한 동선.
우리는 최소한의 가벽을 세우고,
가구로 영역을 나누는 방식으로
공간의 리듬을 다시 설계했다.
빛의 방향, 재료의 밀도, 사람이 머무는 방식에 집중했다.
브랜드의 태도를 일상에 녹여내는 방식으로
언더바서울은 만들어졌다.
지금 이곳은 카페이자 바이자 쇼룸이며,
동시에 사무실이기도 하다.
Tucked between Seoul Station and Namsan,
on a sloped alleyway,
sits a small building - awkwardly placed, quietly sunken.
On paper it’s the first floor,
but in reality, it feels more like a basement.
The space was once a maze:
walls extending in radial lines,
undefined rooms, a confusing flow.
We restructured it with restrain -
just a few partitions,
and furniture that naturally defined each area.
We focused on the rhythm of the space:
the direction of light, the density of materials,
and how people linger.
Today, it is a café, a bar, a showroom, and a design studio.
It is a stage for a brand, and a way of folding
our attitude into the everyday.
That’s how Underbar Seoul was made.
언더바서울은 처음엔 멤버십 오피스로만 운영됐다.
외부에 공개하지 않고, 소수의 팀이 집중해서
일할 수 있도록 구성된 내부 작업 공간.
그런데 빠르게 팀이 확장되고, 동시에 여러 프로젝트가 진행되면서
우리가 일하고 있는 이 공간 자체가 또 하나의 프로젝트가 되었다.
우리는 테이블을 늘리고, 조명을 조정하고,
브런치를 만들고, 저녁에는 와인을 내기 시작했다.
커피 머신을 켜는 손의 리듬, 테이블 위에 놓이는 메뉴와 오브제,
공간의 톤은 그대로 두고 역할만 조금씩 확장해갔다.
지금도 여전히 이곳은 우리가 일하는 공간이다.
다만 이제는 더 많은 사람들이 스쳐가고 머무르며,
우리가 만든 브랜드를 직접 경험하는 장소가 되었다.
Underbar Seoul began as a members-only office—
a private workspace designed for a small team
to focus without outside distraction.
But as the team quickly grew and new projects multiplied,
the space we worked in became a project of its own.
We added tables, adjusted the lighting,
started serving brunch, and poured wine in the evenings.
The rhythm of turning on the espresso machine,
the arrangement of menus and objects on the tables—
the tone of the space stayed the same,
but its roles gradually expanded.
It’s still where we work.
But now, more people pass through, stay a while,
and experience the brand we’ve built—directly, in place.

언더바서울은 하나의 기능으로 설명되지 않는다.
아침에는 커피와 브런치를 내는 카페,
저녁에는 와인과 클래식 칵테일을 내는 바.
낮에는 디자이너들이 일하는 스튜디오,
동시에 오디너리 서비스의 가구를 보여주는 쇼룸.
우리는 이 네 가지를 따로 분리하지 않고,
하나의 톤으로 통합하는 방식을 선택했다.
가구로 나눈 영역, 재질과 조도로 조율한 분위기,
일의 흐름과 손님의 동선이 자연스럽게 겹쳐지도록 설계했다.
기능이 많지만 혼잡하지 않고,
각자의 역할이 있지만 이질감이 없다.
언더바서울은 브랜드의 태도를 공간 전체에 펼쳐놓은 장면이다.
Underbar Seoul can’t be defined by a single function.
In the morning, it’s a café serving coffee and brunch.
By evening, it becomes a bar with wine and classic cocktails.
During the day, it’s a design studio,
and at the same time, a showroom for Ordinary Service furniture.
We didn’t separate these four roles—
instead, we chose to unify them through a single tone.
The zones are divided by furniture,
the atmosphere shaped by materials and lighting,
the flow designed so that work and guests move together, naturally.
There are many functions, but no clutter.
Each role exists, but none feel out of place.
Underbar Seoul is a scene where the brand’s attitude is
fully laid out - across the entire space.
